Ali loses his fiancée Nada and refuses to accept her death. He believes she has been reincarnated as a goat. The neighbourhood gossip becomes unbearable and his mother drags Ali to a healer, who gives him some stones to throw into the sea off the two coasts of Egypt to lift the "curse". While with the healer, Ali meets Ibrahim, a depressed sound engineer who hears "voices" he can't understand. Ali, his goat and Ibrahim then set off on a walk of self-discovery that will seal the growing bond of friendship between them. (Venice International Film Festival)

English I don’t know whether I’ve seen an Egyptian film that would charm me as much as Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim. Ali believes that his fiancée has been reincarnated as a goat while his friend is hearing voices from above. Both are mentally quite unstable and so they set out on a self-seeking journey across Egypt. The camera is fantastic. It shows the brighter side of Egypt, even though the houses the characters inhabit look like terrible dives. The film portrays Egyptian extremes also in terms of the characters themselves, and manages to include some quite humorous episodes. As a whole, I rather liked this. ()
