The Big Bang Theory - Season 12 (2018) (season)

English I cannot believe that it has been so many years since Hollywood was experiencing a financial crisis and so after a few episodes, they had to cut The Big Bang Theory, which already had a huge potential, only for it to be renewed and now they finished with 12 seasons, which had, obviously, some good but also some worse episodes. Nevertheless, the twelfth season had more than decent quality. There was always something happening, the characters were still crazy and even the new ones were very nice. The creators were particularly successful with the ending. Hats off. So once again, after Friends, I have something to remember with sad nostalgia.

Lajko - Gypsy in Space (2018)

English The Hungarians filmed a nice and distinctive memento of a time when their country wasn’t ruled by them but by the Soviet Union. They shot it fairly well, but somehow, I couldn’t shake off the impression that despite this comedy being so crazy, I actually wasn’t laughing for longer periods at a time, even though the Soviet space program got a brutal beating and Brezhnev bought it as well. Serves them right.

Katie Says Goodbye (2016)

English A solid American independent film from the arid Arizona, which is full of American rednecks, who have nothing much going for them. It’s a shame that Katie lived her life the way she did, because, in her case, she reaped what she sowed. Still, it was nicely shot, and the ending grabbed my attention in a way that quite rightly deserves four stars.

The Cannibal Club (2018)

English It seemed to me as if the Brazilians wanted to shock, but they were terribly afraid to make it into, following the example of A Serbian Film, their own distinctive Brazilian Film.

The Cake General (2018)

English When I compare it to The Hundred-Year-Old Man or A Man Called Ove, The Cake General leans towards an equally absurd Swedish comedy. However, the movie gets slightly more normal during its course, which is maybe a bit of a shame, because roughly the middle of the movie was a bit boring. In any case, after the end credits and a confirmation that this was a true story, I’ve eventually decided on decent 4 stars.

Leave No Trace (2018)

English A bit of a tramping drama in the vein of Captain Fantastic about a dad and his daughter who live in a natural way and try to become one with nature. This doesn’t go over well with people who live orthodox lives and don’t understand and condemn everything but the established norm. The Americans are terrible puritans in this regard, but in here (Czech Republic) this movie has to warm the heart of every tramp. I liked it too and I’m not even a tramp. Here in the Czech Republic, we are probably more benevolent than the people in the USA. The second half of the movie and the moments in the community with the uncle, who played American tramp songs, were really nice, radiating a feeling of well-being and freedom; just like the ending itself, which was flawless Ben Foster engraved himself into my memory thanks to this role and I am looking forward to seeing him in Medieval.

Apache Gold (1963)

English I simply cannot add the fifth star. And it is probably because I didn’t see the film for the first time as I child and neither did I stand in queues in the summer theater, unlike many older users here. In fact, I'll probably be one of the few who visited Plitvice lakes before seeing the first installment of Winnetou. But, as years go by, I’m getting a taste for it more and more and I have to say that I completely understand why Winnetou is such a legend for many.

Doom Patrol (2019) (series)

English During the first few episodes I told myself that this might be the most likeable “superhero” group from Detective Comics. I’ve put superheroes in quotation marks on purpose because it seemed to me as if they were rather a bunch of idiots who have no idea what to do with their newly acquired abilities. The best thing about it was Brendan Fraser, who I really liked seeing after such a long time and I grew fond of him immediately. And that happened despite his character being portrayed as a rather strange in the beginning. That is not to say the others weren’t good; they were, and they made a pretty good bunch who were tearing each other into bits with their lines. However, over time their demons started to show, probably to create the reason to watch the first season to the end. But due to this, the series started to fall into mediocrity. There weren’t that many good ideas appearing anymore, the enemy, more often than not, wasn’t really there, and the whole thing was very incoherent. For a while, I felt that the screenwriters thought that they could do whatever they wanted with the DC Patrol teams’ world, and so they did. Sometimes it was such a crazy screenwriting trip as if the whole world had no limits at all and anything could happen there.

You Might Be the Killer (2018)

English There is nothing like watching a horror movie that doesn’t take itself seriously and benefits from this fact as much as possible. Here, they passed with flying colors. A stylish small-scale horror film, which makes fun of everything and does it pretty well. Only Alyson Hannigan didn’t look like a slag in HIMYM (How I met Your Mother), but she portrayed the horror professional brilliantly. Was it intention or her age?

Capricorn One (1977)

English A very decent parallel to Apollo 11. I’m almost surprised that Capricorn One went under my radar for so long. Maybe the Zionist pro-American missionaries did everything in their power to keep me from seeing this movie so that I couldn’t wonder about the truth about the Moon landing.
