The Return of Sherlock Holmes - Wisteria Lodge (1988) (episode)

English This case is so full of strange people that Sherlock Holmes is the most normal of them. I liked the gentlemanly appreciation with which he (finally) acknowledged the work of Inspector Baynes, who also had his ear to the ground.

Ghost in the Shell (2017)

English A bit of a weaker combination of Robocop and Blade Runner... Especially when I think of the latter film, I'm struck by how dated and unsurprising Ghost in the Shell feels, while Blade Runner is still a great philosophical spectacle to ponder and still has something to say about people, humanity and other values. I quite liked the special effects, Scarlett Johansson had one and a half expressions from start to finish, but the role didn't give her more options, so okay. The action scenes weren't completely bad (maybe only the one against the walking tank or whatever it was, was terribly boring) and the music sounded interestingly atmospheric (it also wanted to remind me of Vangelis' Blade Runner), but I didn't take away any great experience from the movie theatre this time. In addition, it seemed to me that the film lasted about two and a half hours.

The Return of Sherlock Holmes - The Devil's Foot (1988) (episode)

English In this episode, Jeremy Brett is simply incredible - his performance cannot be described in any other way. He changes so many positions from bitter to 100% deranged... Of course, Edward Hardwicke plays an equally important role, without whose believable care it could not have been the same. The Devil's Foot is one of my favorite cases, and its adaptation certainly did not disappoint me.

The Return of Sherlock Holmes - Silver Blaze (1988) (episode)

English A bit of a rushed case at first, but in the end all the criticisms go away when Holmes decides to gloat on the man who's been thumbing his nose at him, and when he cashes in his race winnings with a huge smile.

Stuck with a Perfect Woman (2016)

English A pleasant romantic comedy, whose lack of annoyance is literally exceptional by domestic standards. The main roles are played by the beautiful Petra Hřebíčková and the super-sympathetic Ondřej Vetchý, in other roles Miroslav Táborský, whose story about his resemblance to his great-grandfather was so well punctuated that I burst out laughing. The plot isn't surprising at all, but it's nice to watch and I'm glad that it's still possible to make a film about people from a village and people from the city without making complete idiots out of one or the other. I gave it a fourth star for this.

Tři spory - Spor herečky Kvapilové (1982) (episode)

English One hundred percent completion of a more than successful miniseries for the anniversary of the National Theatre. This time it is a powerful story of the famous Hana Kvapilová in a very heartfelt performance by Jana Hlaváčová. Jaroslav Dietl wrote all this admirably, with humility and respect, but at the same time in his own way. I wonder what would happen if he got his hands on the Bohemian.

Tři spory - Spor dramaturga Stroupežnického (1982) (episode)

English The bitter and grumpy Stroupežnický, brilliantly played by Jaromír Hanzlík, kicks down the doors of the National Theatre with one author after another and spends his evenings writing his Furiants (I would watch them again in a heartbeat). You wouldn't believe what an interesting story Jaroslav Dietl made of it. The cast is similarly rich as in the first dispute, and Vadim Petrov's beautiful music remains.

Olympic slaví 40 let (2002) (concert)

English It's not that every Olympik concert is not an experience for me (they are like our Rolling Stones), but nothing can really beat this one. Yes, it is mainly due to the guest window, which starts with “Sealed With A Kiss" performed by Pavel Bobek and Šváb and continues with “Vzpomínka plíživá" and “Z bílé černou", featuring Klein, Chrastina and Pacák. They're obviously enjoying it, and there's archival runtime from that golden era running behind them on screen. It's simply touching. The rest of the concert is one hundred percent rock and roll with a drop of nostalgia and a great backdrop of thousands of enthusiastic spectators.

The Return of Sherlock Holmes - The Six Napoleons (1986) (episode)

English A bit of a messy episode with an overly rushed conclusion, but the way Holmes performs in front of Watson and Lestrade is brilliant. I laughed from the bottom of my heart, maybe this time the creators didn't care about anything else.
