1989 is the euphoric year of Eastern-European political transition, the intoxicated state of unexpected freedom and unlimited possibilities. Szergej is an engineer who is trading with knives at the COMECON market in order to save money to go further West. Jurij and Vagyim are musicians who feel perfectly well here. Erzsi is a teacher of Russian who rents out her apartment to Russians. The two English girls are simple interested in the world: here and now everything is allowed. They all visit the alternative pub Bolse Vita in the evenings. Suddenly everything changes: the Mafia is here. Szergej is killed. Jura and Maggie get married and leave for Britain. Bolse Vitas location is now a sex-shop. (official distributor synopsis)
