When Brian Kessler (David Duchovny) a journalist researching serial killers and photographer girlfriend Carrie Laughlin (Michelle Forbes) decide to cross America visiting scenes of infamous murders with the idea of compiling a book they take on two companions to help foot the bills. Unfortunately one is Early Grayce (Brad Pitt), and his girlfriend, the slow-witted, child-like Adele Corners (Juliette Lewis). "White Trash" is how Carrie sums them up. (20th Century Fox AU)

A refined, atmospheric, psychological and rather disturbing study of a killer’s psyche. Expect an average thriller set in a desert and you’ll be satisfied.

I don’t know why it is that the 1990’s filmmakers were true pros at filming scenes in the rain. That atmosphere… that’s simply terrific. In Kalifornia, these were the best scenes in the entire movie. Other than that, the rest was a bit of a drag that is pretending to be a crime/thriller about a serial killer, which however is no match for the best movies of the times.

A chilling story and great performances, especially by Pitt and Lewis, made this outing an unforgettable spectacle. Sen's best film yet.
