The Man from London

A very weak satire, written and filmed to be as inoffensive as possible, and it certainly didn't deserve such a cast as this. The ace safe-breaker played by Jiří Sovák returns from London to find that, God knows why, his former colleagues in Czechoslovakia work and even go to night shifts, that cement is being stolen from buildings and that conditions here are different from what they portray "out there". And that everyone here is listening to “Láska bláznivá" by Karel Gott. Zdeněk Liška's music is fine, and occasionally there is a joke in the mud, but it is usually short-lived. (09/06/2016)
