Ken Russell is one of the best authors for me, as he can truly look at human needs and desires in a bizarre way. The way he portrays it in his films, how crazy they are, yet he manages to keep the plot together brilliantly, is simply unique. Here, it's also complemented by excellent performances by the lead actors.
