English Jan Vyčítal is a great lyricist, one of the best ever, but it doesn't always suit his lyrics when he sings them. Listeners and audiences expect from him his typical humor pushed to absurd heights (the titular “Beer Jeep”), parodies (the great “Shoes in the Direction of Travel”), chunky nostalgia (“Confessions of a Non-Clown”), anecdotes (“Santa Claus”) or digs at the past regime (“Fruits of Lenin”) rather than romance like “A Girl Named Flora”. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful song that's hard to get out of your head, but Vyčítal simply can't deliver it the way Robert Křestan or Pavel Bobek could. ()
