The day before Vladimir Putin's presidential inauguration, on 6 May 2012, a protest march took place in Moscow's Bolotnaya Square opposite the Kremlin, demanding Putin's resignation and honest elections in Russia. This peaceful march was brutally dispersed by the police special forces. The film's protagonist is activist Vselovod Chernozub, who stayed in Bolotnaya Square until the end. Neither he nor the others knew at the time that this was the start of a new era in which there is no place for protesting people. Soon they will be called "the fifth column" and traitors of the motherland. Chernozub is young and convinced that peaceful protests will win out. He hopes to set up a tent city in Pushkin Square and peacefully nudge society towards change. (Warsaw Film Festival)
