At the Crossroads

Due to the immoral lifestyle of her mother, Attovay Edit was raised in unfavourable conditions. She turns to her wealthy uncle for help who gets her a job as a typist in a bank. At the Attovay family she learns to know Guszti, the fiancé of her niece, Nelly. Guszti is a young doctor of simple origins but great talents. The young man falls fatally in love with Edit at first sight. The girl escapes Guszti for Nelly's sake, but chance brings them together again. Guszti abandons his scholarship abroad, breaks with Nelly and decides to marry Edit. Guszti's mother does not want the ascending career of her son, something they all sacrificed so much for, to be ruined by his marriage to a poor girl, and therefore prevents their marriage. Edit stands out of the way of her lover and accepts the attentions of the general director Nedeczky. (official distributor synopsis)
