Szávay Gábor works for the General Electric Works Ltd. as a clerk, though he has an engineer's diploma and is writing a book about the future of electricity. Since he is the director's namesake, he does not apply for support. Kublics, his colleague, applies for him. He invites the engineer to the director's home, but the host suddenly dies, leaving him in Kublics's hands. To acquire the inheritance the relatives are trying to combine things. The widow tries to win Gábor from Klára. Finally Gábor turns out to be the legal inheritor and along with the directorship, he wins Klára, as well. (official distributor synopsis)
