Mandy Moore stars as Halley, a young hip high school student who believes that love will never happen to her and that her life is a mess. Her father is marrying a woman she can't stand, her mother is alone, her sister's wedding plans are taking over her life and her friends at school only care about cheerleading and football. All seems lost until she meets a boy who shows her what love is all about. (official distributor synopsis)

The sort of a romantic comedy where they're always dealing with "something". And all it would take is a little less self-centeredness ;-) But yeah, it's worth a watch on a very, very boring afternoon, and if you suffer through it, at least you'll be pulled out of it at the end by a song, which you'll be happy to hum :-) ()
A generally digestible guide for teenagers on, well, “how to deal”. The film’s episodic humor doesn’t really work, but at least it’s not overly sweet and stupid (see The Princess Diaries and Crossroads). Therefore, it’s a shame that the screenplay doesn’t have bigger ambitions. Mandy Moore is pleasant and talented and she could have carried something better and smarter. ()
