English Indonesia rocks. The Golden Cane Warrior has a pretty decent and touching story for a martial arts film, but I can't give it away because the first twist that comes at the 20 minute mark is quite unexpected. The film has a nice pace, a likeable protagonist, fine bad guys, great action (a lot of it is done in old school style, with no slow motion or modern elements), the fighting is mainly with canes, which I consider an enhancement, for some it might be a downside. The film is very much focused on the philosophy of fighting and is reminiscent of older martial arts flicks. So I can't complain. A good film with good visuals in Full HD and decent action. 80%. ()

English Damn... they just couldn't ditch those digital effects, could they? If they had ditched them, there would really be a minimum of elements that would irritate me. This is an incredibly good film that takes its cue from Chinese action films but goes its own way and manages to accentuate the Indonesian setting. I really didn't expect something so great to come from Indonesia, with excellent action scenes, and some incredibly inventive moments. ()
