Year 1533, Peru. Spanish soldier Gonzalo Calvo de Barrientos gets accused of a theft of the Incan Emperor Ataualpa's jewels. By the order of conquistador Almagro Gonzalo is punished by cutting off his ears. Dishonored Gonzalo defects from the army and flees towards South. Having crossed the desert Atacama, the hero finds a shelter in a wild Indian tribe. But soon the Spanish army comes here – headed by conquistador Diego de Almagro who would make it into history known as conqueror of Chile. (Moscow International Film Festival)
