Summer with Anton takes us to a different kind of summer camp. The Russian eighth grader Anton packs his backpack, says farewell to babouschka and starts for a state run military training camp. At the camp, boys barely at their teens learn to defend their country, in theory as well as in practice. The film treats its subject matter in a poetic way raising questions about the ethics of children's military training, and more importantly, how to converge the distinct perspectives of a child and an adult.
