Lukas's father is a tikbalang, a Filipino centaur and trickster who can make people disappear. Or maybe he just heard wrong. The director presents a succession of fleeting images expired film – a mixture of documentary, film-within-a-film and fantasy. The sensitive recycling of personal memories, cheap Filipino movies, and a country's history.
An action film is being shot near the village. In the make-up room, people talk about the river that can help forget even the most painful things. Like the rest of the film, the cheap props are a metaphor – primarily for the nature of the Marcos dictatorship. (Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival)
