Good prison-escape picture based on an actual jailbreak at the Canon City prison in Colorado in 1947. Brady is fine as the apparently well-behaved, unassuming inmate, who in his spare time makes a homemade pistol. He and eleven other inmates make their escape and then are hunted down, killed, or recaptured. Fine cast of character actors including Ray Bennett as the mastermind of the plan and Corey as one of the co-conspirators. Don't blink or you'll miss "Star Trek's" Dr. McCoy, DeForrest Kelley, as one of the prisoners. Strangely, the role of the warden is played by the actual warden of the prison at the time of the escape and some of the prisoners and guards also have roles. (official distributor synopsis)
