Based on the ground-breaking anime, Kite tells the story of Sawa (India Eisley), a young woman living in a corrupt society where crime and gangs terrorise the streets. When Sawa's mother and policeman father are found victims of a grisly double homicide, she begins a ruthless pursuit for the man who murdered them. With the help of her father's ex-partner (Samuel L. Jackson) and a mysterious friend (Callan McAuliffe) from her past, she becomes a merciless assassin, blasting her way through the dark world of human trafficking only to uncover a devastating truth. A Besson-esque type of heroine, borrowed from the original Japanese anime. Moreover, it's a fairly clear template for a revenge-themed film. After the first scene, I thought it would be a cool B-movie, but unfortunately, the rest of it showed that it really isn't. I'm curious about the Japanese version. I have more hopes for that one. ()
