English I didn’t find Gateway half as stupid as some people on this site claim. It might not be the cleverest movie on this planet, but it also contains so much adrenaline that that every single inhabitant of an entire city could take a piece each and there’d still be some left. Ethan Hawke doesn’t have time to act much, but he shows some excellent driving skills. Selena Gomez is rather grating but you’ll get used to her. You don’t need to try and wrap your head around all the logical lapses, ‘cause this is just a crazy adrenaline ride through Bulgarian Varna at its best, which managed to entertain me for the whole 85 minutes, thus fulfilling its purpose. English Ethan Hawke is apparently seeking a "getaway" from the dumb scenario, however to no avail. And the awful visuals are not helping. The worst thing about this film, though, is the incredibly annoying and unlikeable Selena Gomez, whose acting skills are null – she was, for me, simply unbearable. The walk-ons by veterans like Paul Freeman or Jon Voight are not enough to save the day. ()
