Anything But Love

Billie Golden (Isabel Rose), a character modeled on Audrey Hepburn, dreams of becoming a sultry nightclub chanteuse like her silver-screen heroines. But, unlike Rita Hayworth in GILDA, Billie lives an unglamorous life in a dilapidated apartment in Queens and works as a waitress in a cabaret club while dreaming of her big break. When her high school crush, Greg Ellenbogen (Cameron Bancroft), reappears out of nowhere as a successful corporate lawyer, Billie falls for him instantly. However, Greg doesn't share Billie's artistic passion or quirky spirit and wants to remake the redheaded spitfire into a docile, suburban housewife. At the same time, Billie meets Elliot Shephard (Andrew McCarthy), a bitter, struggling pianist whom she hires to give her lessons. The two share a passion for the American musical standards of the '40s which leads to their inevitable attraction. (official distributor synopsis)
