Fourth instalment in the 'found footage' horror franchise which follows on from events in the first two films. Alice (Kathryn Newton) and her mother were fine until their new neighbours moved in, but creepy little kid next door Robbie (Brady Allen) and his auntie Katie (Katie Featherston) have brought more than just their belongings to the street. It seems that the demonic presence which has tormented them for years has followed them and is keen on getting to know the neighbours. (Paramount Pictures AU)

English Winner in the category of the shortest horror climax of the year. For an hour an a half the creators set the stage up for something proper, and then everything is ready and done in a minute. People in the cinema couldn’t believe it :-D That’s it, for me, it’s a massive disappointment. Last year, I left the cinema happy with the third part and ready to defend it against all the blind hatred. Not this time, I left disillusioned. Once again, people use the camera in unlikely situations, we never get answers to the interesting and important questions left from the previous one, and more questions are also added. This way, it can go forever, and the creators have now opened the doors to about a thousand spin-offs. I would’ve had no problem with any of that, but this was the first time that PA never scared me, not even once. When it comes to horror, the fourth part is very weak and tame, and it doesn’t even bring in any interesting ideas – and when it does (kinect), they remain sadly unused. In conclusion: likeable characters, decent execution, it’s still not shit, but this time I won’t argue about that. ()
