An age-old feud between two Kentucky families reaches boiling point in The Trail of Lonesome Pine. The Tollivers and the Falins have been at odds for decades. With plans to build a railroad through both families' land and mine coal deposits beneath it, enterprising outsider Jack Hale (Fred MacMurray, Double Indemnity) inadvertently becomes entangled in the region's politics. When Hale is drawn to the beautiful June Tolliver (Sylvia Sidney, Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams) he becomes involved in a dangerous love triangle with her and her cousin Dave (Academy Award® winner Henry Fonda, On Golden Pond) who is far from content playing second fiddle to the ambitious newcomer.
