This is the original British version of the musical SWEENEY TODD. It's the gruesome tale of a greedy barber, who with the aid of the baker next door is able to kill his customers and dispose of the bodies undetected. (official distributor synopsis)

Prioritize:
It's exactly as naive as anyone who voluntarily watches the 1936 film probably expects. The acting and direction, in my opinion, are more in keeping with a silent film than a sound film, and the initial promise of everything taking place in the (then) present day sadly goes away after a few minutes, but I did like Tod Slaughter in the lead role, he had a really lovely sinister chuckle.
