Plots(1)

Process server Dale Denton has a grudging business relationship with the laconic Saul Silver, deigning to visit only to purchase Saul's primo product--a rare new strain of pot called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop and the city's most dangerous drug lord, he panics and dumps the Pineapple Express at the scene. When it's traced back to him, Dale and Saul run for their lives--and they quickly discover that they're not just suffering from weed-fueled paranoia. If they survive, these two just might become real friends. (official distributor synopsis)

English “You just got killed by a Daewoo Lanos, mother*ucker!” is the only line that made me laugh out loud. Even though it was produced by Judd Apatow, it’s extremely unfunny. And not because I don’t get stoner humor or that Seth Rogen and James Franco don’t look convincing enough with a joint, and the same goes for Danny McBride and a shotgun, but because the script is so forced, it is literally painful. English A few scenes are ridiculously funny (the apartment brawl, the car chase), and even the rest isn't bad. The film is nevertheless unnecessarily long and because of the action finale, eventually the whole sort of fades out into nothing. It’s too bad, but I actually still had a good time, plus I have to appreciate that it did without including most body fluids. ()

English When I went to see this movie, I expected something different from it. It was because I had only heard some rumors. Simply put, a cult film, from which I expected more than just another stoner movie about a pair of junkies who get involved in a very rough game where their lives are at stake. The crazy ride with weed and blown-off heads is crowned with quite brutal violent scenes. Seth Rogen and James Franco, whom the comical role suits as well as the dramatic one, are two addicts who must constantly smoke. Together, they smoke a legendary cigarette called "Pineapple Express." Dale, played by Rogen, later witnesses a murder and gets involved in a crazy carousel where no one cared about him, but in the end, he becomes the one the assassins are after. The film is then full of crazy scenes, lines, and dark humor, which is classically in the style of Judd Apatow's films, as he produced this movie, but it is mainly in Rogen's style, as he co-wrote the script. Together with Evan Goldberg, he also worked on scripts for films like "The Green Hornet" or "Superbad." The viewer won't enjoy "Pineapple Express" too much unless they are in the right mood. Almost as if it should be supplied with the film, it is recommended to consume it only with a rolled joint. The film might then possibly gain some juice. Like this, it is immensely close to average. However, a few scenes that captivate and disarm you are worth it, so at least I can give it a slight above-average rating with peace of mind. English A fun, action-packed, lighthearted, never boring "green" comedy. Seth Rogen and James Franco excel as the stoner duo, their dialogue about something will entertain even the "non-green" community. The extended car scene with the two Koreans conversing, with one of them pretending not to speak English, is one of the best the film has to offer. A bit of a weak 4 stars, but the broken glass scene is unforgettable. :) ()

English Entertaining, but often too over the top. Unlike many others, I don't think the are doing a good job when they mindlessly throw the main characters into a whirlwind of situations so exaggerated and implausible that their occurrence is explained at most by the proliferation of the titular addictive substances even among the actively thinking members of the crew. Not to mention the fact that half of these scenes are not half as funny as they deserve and we expect... But even so, I can imagine much, much worse shit ;) 60% ()
