Peter O'Toole (Lawrence of Arabia) stars as megalomaniacal director Eli Cross, in charge of a big budget action movie where the emphasis is on the action! Enter young fugitive and neophyte stunt man, Cameron (Steve Railsback) who is given the job of a lifetime if only he can survive the first day of filming. In exchange for keeping him hidden away from the authorities, Cameron agrees to replace Cross's deceased stunt man and undertake some of the most insanely staged, death-defying stunts in the history of cinema - all for the benefit of his director's single-minded vision. English A strange but good film, which has no problem to jump from a crazy grotesque (the chase on the hotel rooftops is fantastic) to a rather awkward romance, then back to the grotesque through a slightly crime section, then back to a psychological thriller... And so on. Peter O'Toole once again gave a great performance, you have to admire him even in the moments when he does nothing but get carried by a crane and swear, and the (for me) unknown director and the composer of the music surprised me. But maybe it all could have been a little shorter. ()
