Amy Heckerling's hugely successful high school comedy is a modern day version of Jane Austen's 'Emma'. Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is a precocious teenager, acutely aware of her own superior social standing in relation to some of her classmates. She is just as sure of her position of authority at home as well, until her stepbrother arrives to disrupt the status quo. Her poise is somewhat disturbed at school, too, when a new classmate stirs an emotion in her she has never felt before: love! (Paramount Pictures AU)

An absolutely awesome relax. I woke up, turned the TV on and watched the totally unknown movie Clueless. I won’t lie, it was a load of hogwash, but I don’t get to laugh this much with many movies. The blonde’s father was the best – a total hothead. Not only that, but he also made the movie really relaxing. Such 92 minutes are exactly what I need on a Saturday morning after a workweek. ()
"-What the hell is that?! – A dress! – Says who?! – Calvin Klein!" Cher's clever wisecracks, Tai and Travis's bemused and unsuspecting faces, the pitifully trying Miss Geist and the sleazy Mr Hall, that's all that belongs to this slightly above average American comedy that doesn't rely on awkwardness or nastiness. An enjoyable film to brighten up an afternoon. ()
At first, I wanted to give it a better review, but it's simply a romantic comedy with such opposing characters that they have to annoy you when you think about them a little. The actresses handle it great, but I just found them annoying. I was kind of taken aback at how Brittany Murphy looked at the time. I didn't recognize her at all. ()
It's not entirely clear to me why Amy Heckerling preferred Clueless to Look Who's Talking Now, but apparently the potential for a TV series was there. Here, everyone is on point. Sweet 90s teen Alicia Silverstone in the lead role, RIP Brittany Murphy still as the ugly duckling, Paul Rudd as the ideal for all generations, Elisa Donovan, of course, and the hallmark of Heckerling movies Twink Caplan. :) At first glance, it’s an interchangeable comedy from American high schools, but for fans of Amy, it amounts to a bit more. Nowadays it's also a case of nostalgia and catchphrases that the younger generation won't understand anymore. ()
