Gergó has to act as Stalin for a whole long hour at the military when Stalin dies. Gergó is a draughtsman at the Metal Works Company which is a disguised military plant, and his former commander is the officer of the intelligence. The wife of Wágner chief engineer and Gergó fall in love with each other, but he also honours and loves the engineer as well. Wágner is arrested as a suspected spy. He dies in prison. Later Gergó and Zsuzsa marry. The revolution breaks out and Gergó, standing on the ground of the law saves the secret police officer from being lynched. In l957 he is arrested and sentenced to death. In the prison he recalls his former life again. Before the execution he is reprieved: a life sentence. (official distributor synopsis)
