The protagonist of this film which takes place in Budapest at the beginning of the 1960s is the teen-age high-school student, Gruber Ernő. After having placed the half a portion of ice bought at the corner in the refrigerator, he leaves home like a lightning because at the Winkler-home the friends gather for their usual morning party. In the evening, the family migrates with the neighbours, all carrying chairs, to the only television set of the building; William Tell is shown on TV. The next day Gruber leaves for the dance class equipped with three pieces of Blue Crane cigarette. Its is every boy's dream to dance with Fekete Virág, but the girl belongs to Sztásni. Gruber attempts the impossible, and cuts in on the dancing couple, but is caught by the elder boys after the class. Grubers prepares for being beaten badly, but is instead invited to the party; all the boys go through Virág. The show of manliness ends in a wild fight. At dawn, Gruber is on his way home beaten, disillusioned. (official distributor synopsis)
