Long time ago, human nature, almost animalistic, dictated how people would act. Their survival depended on what they gathered, hunted down, or made themselves. And once we run out of electricity and fuels, this is the exact position to which we will return. However may our civilization projects onto us, our basic instincts and feelings remain unchanged.
