Biography (1)
Jean Vigo (1905-1934) was a French director and one of the founders of poetic realism. He also strongly influenced the French New Wave. He began his film career with the short documentaries À Propos de Nice (1930) and Taris (Taris, roi de l'eau, 1932), which he followed with the live-acted medium-length film Zero for Conduct (Zéro de conduite, 1933), inspired by his memories from childhood. The feature-length comedy drama L'Atalante (1934) completed his film work.
