Biography

Rodrigo Cortés made his debut with the short documentary 15 días (2001). His first feature film, Concursante (2007), won the Critics Award and Silver Biznaga for Best Cinematography at Malaga Festival. With the second, Buried (2010), he reaped international acclaim and won, amongst other awards, the Goya for Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Sound. Next came Red Lights (2012) and Down a Dark Hall (2018). In 2021 he premiered La broma, an episode of the TV series Historias para no dormir, screened at the Sitges Festival. El amor en su lugar received two Goyas nominations and won, amongst other awards, the Sant Jordi for Best Spanish Film and the Feroz for Best Director.
