Biography

Jan Iván (1924-1993) was an artist and director. He first worked for Barrandov Studios, then became the main director of Zlín Film Studios, where he focused on tailor-made and animated films. He also collaborated with the Czechoslovak TV. His directorial work includes the TV fairy tale Marcelka (1971) and short animated films such as How It Was With the Water Goblin (Jak to bylo s hastrmanem, 1982), A Good Helper ...? (Dobrý pomocník...?, 1984) and The Hamster Affair (Aféra s křečkem, 1987). He also made a number of documentaries, particularly relating to fine art.
