Laura Herrero Garvín studied a Master in Creative Documentary at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. In 2010, she arrived in Mexico to study film and work as a director, photographer and editor on different documentary projects. She has directed the feature-length documentaries Son duros los días sin nada (Rough Are The Days Without Nothing, 2012) and El Remolino (The Swirl, 2016), premiered at Locarno Film Festival, as well as some twenty short films, also documentaries. In Mexico, Laura belongs to the filmmakers' collective Emergenciamx and is a founding partner of La Sandía Digital, Laboratorio de Cultura Audiovisual A.C. La Mami was selected for the 2016 Co-Production Forum at San Sebastian Festival.
