Biography
Kiyoshi Kurosawa debuted in 1983 with Kandagawa inran censo (Kandagawa Wars) and achieved international fame with Cure (1997). Worthy of note in his extensive filmography are works including Korei (Pulse, 2001), shown in Un Certain Regard at Cannes, where it received the FIPRESCI prize, Akarui mirai (Bright Future, 2002), which competed in the Official Selection of the same festival, Sakebi (Retribution, 2006), shown out of competition in Venice; Shokuzai (Penance, 2012), screened in Zabaltegi at San Sebastian; Tokyo Sonata, Jury Prize in Un Certain Regard at Cannes, and Kishibe no tabi (Journey to the Shore, 2015) Best Director award in the same section, in which he also participated with Sanpo suru shinryakusha (Before We Vanish, 2017). Wife of a Spy competed at the Venice Festival.
