Hit-and-Run Squad (2019)

English Han Jun-hee made his debut with the great thriller Coin Locker Girl and now he has fallen into B-movie waters with a not-so-interesting theme about cars, racing and traffic. Considering the film is over two hours long and the action is kept to a minimum, it drags quite a bit, the stuttering villain is more annoying than interesting and none of the main characters are very engaging either. It is shot competently and there are two decent fights, but I didn't enjoy it. 40%

Pitbull: Ostatni pies (2018)

English Patryk Vega has been replaced by Wladyslaw Pasikowski and fortunately both are among the best Poland has to offer. The brutality and action may have diminished, but this is still a solid infiltration crime drama with the beautiful Dorota Rabczewska, a decent pace and an entertaining story. The Poles are good at these mafia thrillers. 80%.

Andhadhun (2018)

English India serves up a cracking and intelligent thriller like that is very close to European stuff. The film has a very original story about a pianist who pretends to be blind to make more money, but everything goes wrong when he witnesses a murder, even though everyone things he didn't actually see anything, and so a plethora of uncomfortable situations arise where the main character's neck is on the line several times. Very suspenseful, entertaining, well acted and with a decent dose of morbid and shocking twists (the creativity of the filmmakers is excellent), and there is a bit of violence. A solid affair by Indian standards, which does without the dancing. 80%.

Bad Seeds (2018)

English An enjoyable French comedy that will amuse, move and surprise. The main character is in charge of a group of incorrigible pupils and will spend his days with them in a rather funny way. There will be no big laughs, but the film will put a smile on your face without any problems. Kheiron as director and lead actor decent. 75%.

Coyote (2017)

English Hungarian European western, fight for land, gangsters! The film has unexpectedly decent and sharp fights, a good villain and a not very likeable main character. An interesting film that doesn't grab you, but has some decent moments. 65%.

Kursk (2018)

English I'm not a big fan of submarines and the Navy, so I went into this film more out of curiosity and it wasn't bad. The explosion in Kursk is filmed decently and the following submarine survival drama is filmed entertainingly though it definitely could have been grittier as well as more gripping. I wasn't bored but I'm not the target audience. However, for fans of submarines and movies based on true events, I recommend it. 60%.

Into the Badlands - Season 3 (2018) (season)

English This series started so well and ends so blandly. The third season strays from the original concept and it didn't sit well with me at all. It's getting too fantasy and all the fights involve flying, which I don't like. Daniel Wu doesn't show off much in the action anymore, the characters are getting annoying. The only thing keeping the series afloat is the juicy gore, even though even that is gone in this season. Finished more out of curiosity than interest. 60%

Greta (2018)

English A nice little thriller with the talented Chloë Grace Moretz and the excellent psychopathic Isabelle Huppert! Chloë is new to New York and accidentally finds a handbag on the subway and decides to return it to its original owner, Greta, who is on the surface friendly and very hospitable, but with hidden agendas and psychopathic traits. A disturbing, unsettling, perfectly acted and decently shot thriller with a nicely choreographed finale. In the 90s it would have been a hit as hell, but nowadays the film doesn't quite pull it off, yet as a genre one-off it serves decently. 70%

Hitch (2005)

English Funny I missed this until now. A decent idea for a RomCom, a terrific Will Smith, and a seductively uncompromising Eva Mendes pull the film into the above average range. I also liked Kevin James as an absolute dork. I had a very enjoyable time. 75%.

The Wandering Earth (2019)

English Jacky Wu certainly has a knack for finding financially successful projects. After Wolf Warrior 2, he chose another successful box office hit, but the quality of the film itself isn't worth much this time. China decided to make their first big sci-fi flick, combining Gravity with 2012, and it's an unexpectedly unentertaining mess with quite capable CGI, but weak in terms of action and story-wise it doesn't really stand out either; it’s more like a rip-off of older more well-known sci-fi. 50%
