Death of the Virgin (2009)

English Just when you think there might be something that will captivate you in the end, something that will at least slightly tip the scales in favor of quality, suddenly it's over and nothing significant really happened. Death of the Virgin is just an attempt to film atmospheric horror, but without the creators having any idea what they actually want to shoot. The horror is fading away from horror movies, even from those directly focused on atmosphere, which is quite dismal.

Narcopolis (2015)

English An almost amateurish sci-fi trying to prove its worth. I don't mean in terms of special effects, because there are no special effects, but in terms of story. This is one of those films that tries to say it has something to say. And it even succeeds a little here and there, if only it didn't fall into classic sci-fi clichés. The original idea is slips away.

Ashby (2015)

English Mickey Rourke shows once again that he can act and that he doesn't want to take roles just to make money. Here he tries and succeeds with ease, he still has it in him and he complements the young generation seamlessly. His character is intriguing, albeit somewhat clichéd, but the romance subtly presented in the background of his fate, thanks to Emma, is simply nice.

The Mirror (1975)

English Yet another one of those films that I'll have to watch again someday to fully appreciate its greatness because so far I haven't fully grasped it. Tarkovsky tried a slightly different approach, it's even more philosophical and abstract, and that just didn't sit well with me. The imagery is intriguing, as is the blending of techniques, but I only see it as interesting.

Mr. Right (2015)

English A romantic comedy that has nothing to entice with. It's nice that there are films made for white people and films made for black people, even today – no, actually, it's incredibly hypocritical and still shows the division among people – but otherwise, this is utterly uninspired, boring, and only saved by somewhat bearable characters... if it lasted for about ten minutes.

Mr. Nobody (2009)

English Interesting use of music, interesting scenes, good performances, and great ideas, but all within something that's just a patchwork of ideas, held together only because from the beginning you feel it's something important. It’s not. This is simply a game for the viewer that doesn't lead to a successful conclusion.

The Harvest (2013)

English The Harvest isn't a film that will scare you with jump scares, but it will frighten you with its atmosphere. It will grip you with what's happening and how people act when they are in a crisis situation and when they want to help their child at all costs. Michael Shannon once again shows what a great actor he is and here, where there is no need to overact, he plays a surprisingly calm character. His skills are in the right place once again.

Tomorrowland (2015)

English Disney presented another beautiful vision, which is simply visually stunning. On top of that, you still get a story that's nicely family friendly, but with grittier moments here and there. But don't expect blood, of course. If you like Disney, you'll get what you expect, maybe a little more. I took away a nice warm feeling from the film. For a small instant, one believes that there is hope for humanity.

Me & Earl & the Dying Girl (2015)

English If it weren't so drawn out towards the end - although there are still absolutely great scenes here - I might have rated it even higher, maybe even the highest possible rating. But by the end, it had lost a little something for me. This is one of those films that beautifully shows that death is a part of our lives and that there is nothing we can do about it. It is conceived with love for people and relationships, which are presented here in a quite original way. For this the creators deserve applause.

The Conversation (1974)

English A beautiful demonstration that it is one thing to live in separation, but another to be completely alone and lose everything. A beautifully and simultaneously terrifyingly self-destructive film, showcasing Coppola's prowess as both a director and a screenwriter. The sound options are utilized here in perfect harmony with the needs of the film, which only enhances the overall effect.
