English For me, Dark Sun is the worst work in Otakar Vávra's filmography, and given the quality of the crew and the resources invested, it's one of the worst films of the decade. A piece of propaganda that formally imitates the original Krakatit but completely diverges from it in terms of its idea - it's a factually manipulative film that was politically favored and had an appropriately inflated budget. The actors were reluctant to join the project; for instance, Magda Vašáryová played the most embarrassing role of her film career and, incidentally, played it poorly. Overall impression 10%. ()
