In 1945, Leo Kessler, an American of German descent, arrives in post-war Germany in order to work and explore the land of his father. He unexpectedly discovers a conquered and destroyed country overshadowed by darkness towards the end of the Nazi regime. On arrival, his uncle gets him a job as a night conductor on the Zentropa Railway Line, owned by the Nazi sympathizer and magnate, Max Hartmann. The American tries to remain neutral to the ongoing purging of loyalists by the Allied forces. Unfortunately, he falls in love with the magnate's daughter and finds himself being used by both the American and the influential family. With his neutrality compromised, Leo is finally forced to make some extremely horrifying and tragic decisions. (Accent Film Entertainment)
