Definitely better in terms of special effects than the Dune TV movie, and similarly in terms of story. This is a pivotal turning point in the entire "Dune" book series, and in how its world will be shaped. It's incredible what Frank Herbert achieved here, and I must say that these television creators managed to make a good version that they can be proud of. A few more well-known actors and a few more Czech faces definitely wouldn't have hurt the film. It's even nice that some of them returned. It's a shame that the other books didn't get made. Perhaps someday they will attempt to film this sci-fi masterpiece again and achieve even greater success. ()
