Pat Brennan (Western legend Randolph Scott, Comanche Station) is a man who finds himself in the middle of a bad situation. Having gambled his horse away, he kindly accepts a ride from Willard (John Hubbard,The Mummy’s Tomb) and Doretta Mims (Maureen O'Sullivan,A Day at the Races) aboard their stagecoach. But when it is hijacked by a trio of merciless bandits, led by the especially heartless Frank Usher (Richard Boone,The Shootist) all hell breaks loose and it is up to Brennan and his companions to hatch a cunning plan to escape with their lives. When you lose a bet in which you bet on your horse, you probably don't even realize what it could mean for you. A story about how one honest guy finds himself in a situation where he has to save not only himself but also a woman. There are three thugs against him and he doesn't have much to stand against them. A western brilliantly built as an intimate drama. In addition, everything is portrayed in beautiful colors. A relatively rough film, rougher than most classic westerns, like those with John Wayne. It's not caused by violence, but rather by the hopeless situation of the couple. ()
