Based on the most well-known classical fantasy novel in China, Fengshen Bang(Investiture of the Gods), the trilogy is a magnificent eastern high fantasy epic that recreates the prolonged mythical wars between humans, immortals and monsters, which happened more than three thousand years ago.
In the midst of a rebellion, Yin Shou, the second prince of the Shang Dynasty, unintentionally frees a demon fox that possesses Daji, the rebel leader's daughter. Daji's mysterious influence leads to the crown prince's regicide. As Yin Shou ascends the throne and faces celestial omens, the sage Jiang Ziya seeks a true ruler to save the realm. Amidst the growing chaos in Zhaoge (capital city of the early Shang Dynasty), suspicions arise about the king's intentions and Daji's enigmatic nature. Zhaoge teeters on the edge of a bloody conflict.

An absolute blast! If you love Chinese history and fantasy, this film is definitely a great choice! The visual effects are stunning, though there were a few moments that felt "over the top" and reminded me of cheap Chinese restaurant decor lol. Overall, it was fantastic, and I can't wait for the sequel! ()
