Alina Marazzi's mother died in 1972, when the later film maker was only seven years old. In this beautiful and personal found footage film, made up of amateur film material shot by her grandfather between 1926 and 1972, Marazzi tries to understand the woman she never really knew. The images, diary fragments and medical reports do not just bring her mother to life, but also offer a fascinating glimpse of an era and a way of life in a certain (affluent) class. As a result, a very personal document also becomes a film with a much wider value. (International Film Festival Rotterdam)
