In 1870s New Mexico Territory, megalomaniacal widowed ranch-owner T. C. Jeffords (Huston) butts heads with his daughter, Vance (Stanwyck), a firebrand with serious daddy issues, over her dowry, choice of marriage, and, finally, ownership of the land itself. (official distributor synopsis)

If this western was a little more gritty, I would have enjoyed it a little more, but as it was, I found it a little too long-winded in some parts. The suspense alternates with romance, which in my opinion is a bit of a shame in this case, because the film deserves a bit more suspense. ()
