According to a Finnish proverb, chimneysweeper brings good luck to the house. However, in the withering Finnish countryside their company is more important than luck. Chimney Boys is a short documentary about the lasting relations that chimneysweepers have with their clients. Sometimes the relationship lasts for decades, through all the births and deaths. And when they are not removing bird’s nests or inspecting the chimneys, the chimneysweepers always have time for a coffee and chinwag. But of course the chimneysweepers also have worries of their own. Chimney Boys makes sweeping look like a beautifully choreographed dance. The work seems almost like a social gathering for the whole household.
