Six-time Grammy, winner Whitney Houston was one of the most successful female recording artists of all time. Whitney: Can I Be Me offers a raw and uncensored look at Whitney Houston, exploring the impact her life and death had on the people around her and the world of music. "Can I be me?" was Houston's favourite expression, one she used so much that her band member sampled it to play at the start of rehearsals. The film explores Whitney's central dilemma: even though she had made millions of dollars, had more consecutive number ones than The Beatles and was recognised as having one of the greatest voices of all time, she still couldn't do what she wanted to do. English This is a pretty honest documentary that doesn't shy away from adoring the singer, but it's equally good at showing her weaknesses and the fact that she was basically heading towards something tragic for a long time, as if she had no choice, as if she couldn't choose the right thing that could still save her before the end.
