As soon as the car door closes and the footsteps on the gas, it comes very close to getting the full five stars. However, as soon as they put the cars in the garage and the movie begins playing at a silent, “who can piss further" crime movie about a clash between two macho guys, so it is painfully obvious that they should have cast someone completely different from the O'Neal/Dern duo. A strong, silent type for whom the taciturn role would have seemed natural and not just like they forgot their lines.
