Beau (John Travolta) is a salt of the earth man who blames himself for his brother's death and raises his orphaned niece Bailey (Kate Bosworth). Meanwhile, his crew are scrambling to upgrade the electrical grid in their Texas County on a tight schedule. John Travolta demonstrates that he doesn't need to hog the spotlight and that he's also suited for smaller roles, which he plays in a way that he doesn't have to be ashamed of anything. A rather sensitive film that plays on clichéd themes like a problematic mother, unexpected pregnancy, and violence, but still manages to work and doesn't completely deter.
