Srinivasa Ramanujan (Dev Patel) was working as a clerk in Madras, India under Sir Francis Spring (Stephen Fry). Spring helped Ramanujan make first contact with Cambridge professor, G.H. Hardy (Jeremy Irons) who, upon discovering Ramanujan's potential, set about bringing him to England. Along with Cambridge Fellow, John Littlewood, (Toby Jones) Hardy championed and worked with him to bring his genius to light.
