In his third feature Angelopoulos embarked on a colossal journey through the history of Greece between 1939 and 1952 (covering the years of the Nazi occupation), following a group of itinerant actors who go from village to village always performing the same play. (Seville European Film Festival)

English Watching this film is quite challenging, but I have to admit that even though the four-hour runtime initially scared me off, it's a movie that managed to captivate me. It's a very unusual experience that shows Greece in a very different way from how we understand it - as a tourist destination. Strong, long scenes that you have to prepare for. ()
