If it didn't have such a bizarre screenplay that tried to be overly complicated, it would be quite a good rural thriller with interesting characters. For example, Bruce Dern as the mailman is excellent, and John Malkovich as the sheriff is also great. However, even though the killer is quite an interesting character, the whole thing is led toward an ending that just isn't engaging. In the end, everything before isn't much fun either.
